Digital Closed Circuit Television
Closed Circuit Television or CCTV has proved to be a popular method employed to reduce crime over recent years and with the development of new technology the days of video tapes and analogue video recorders are numbered.
The new generation of Digital Hard Disk Recorders ( DVR ) point to the future, the DVR allows uninterrupted recording in either continuous or time lapse modes for as long as a week or more, there are no more tapes to be changed and stored and frequent costly VCR maintenance is eliminated.
Digital technology allows any desired events to be retrieved virtually instantly with a choice of easy to use search methods, by time/date, alarm events and recording list, pictures and clips can be exported to compact flash media using the built in card slot, allowing convenient storage and viewing on a PC, the DVR also has ethernet TCP/IP connections for remote viewing, controlling and playback.

Important Information on the Data Protection Act
The introduction of the Data Protection Act means that most CCTV installations designed to provide either crime prevention, crime detection or to enhance the safety of the public will now have to comply with the requirements of the Act.
The Act applies to commercial and public CCTV systems only, so if your system is for your own private residence you do not need to comply with it.
If your CCTV system captures images to a video recorder, DVR or Hard Disk Recorder it is now a legal requirement that you operate that CCTV system in accordance with The Data Protection Act.
